‘Tis the season to come up with that perfect gift for everyone on your list. Ah, if only we were mind-readers. (Well, maybe not. No one needs to know what I’m really thinking.)
But when it comes to giving yourself a gift, no mind-reading is required. You know what you want. And if you’re reading this, the answer is probably books.
If it’s not books, I’m afraid I can’t help you. But if it is books, and if you’re shopping for everyone but yourself, then behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy: I will shop for you. If you win this month’s contest, that is.
Here’s all you have to do this month: tell me what romance novel you’ve been longing to read, and why. At the end of the month, I’ll randomly pick two winners. You winners will get your longed-for book, and the rest of us will get great recommendations. Ta da!
One limitation: pick in-print titles, please! I know, I know–we’ve all been wanting to read The Windflower. But that sucker is almost impossible to find.
CONTEST RULES: To enter, leave a comment on this blog post. The contest will close at noon ET on Friday, December 31, 2010. I’ll select two winners from among all entrants using random.org. Your chances of winning depend on the number of comments – so don’t spam, but feel free to get all sociable-like to increase your odds. I will announce and contact winners no later than January 2, 2011. Winners will have one week after notification to provide me with their snail mail addresses; then an alternate winner may be selected. For shipping reasons, only US residents are eligible to win.

Great idea! Here’s one for you, Theresa… I have always wanted to read a romance novel that has my name in it (Rita). I have never liked my name anyway, and to never see it in print made me like it even less. I spent many days in used book stores back in high school with my friend Susannah, and we finally found her a historical romance actually called “Susannah”! But we never found any books with the heroine’s name as Rita.
Great request, Rita! I can’t think of any Rita heroines off the top of my head, but I’m sure they’re out there. (I can’t think of any for my name, either, though I have run across a Tess.) Lisa Kleypas wrote a Marguerite, but everyone called her Daisy…hmmm, I’ll keep thinking.
Rita is a great name in romance. After all, the highest honor in the romance writing world is called the RITA, after the first president of Romance Writers of America. How cool is that?
I’ve been dying to read Deep Kiss of Winter, a duology by Kresley Cole and Gena Showalter; I think it’s the only in Cole’s Immortals After Dark that I haven’t picked it up yet!
Thanks for this great contest, and happy holidays.
Ooh, very interesting, Julie. Kresley Cole just won a RITA, if I recall correctly, so she’s at the top of her game. Thanks for your entry!
I’ve been wanting to read “Bespelling Jane Austen: Almost Persuaded\Northanger Castle\Blood and Prejudice\Little to Hex Her” by Mary Balough and three other authors. It looks like a hoot!
Ok, I am late with the announcement, but here it comes: the contest is closed.
Aww, there are three entrants? And I said two of you would win? That’s not very Christmassy to the person who gets left out. Ok, you all win. I’ll PM you to get your mailing info.
Thanks for your entries, and please come back tomorrow when a new contest will be…UNVEILED. (Yes, there’s a reason for that being in all caps.)
Hooray! It’s great to be a winner! I definitely choose the “Rita book”. Can’t wait to see it!
